An evening of thoughtful reflection and shared discernment with pastors who desire to see their congregations formed and sent into the marketplace as a primary arena of discipleship, witness, and blessing for the city.
The Purpose
WHY THIS GATHERING?
The marketplace shapes culture every day. The men and women sitting in our congregations are leading companies, building ventures, teaching classrooms, serving in public life, and influencing the direction of the city.
The question before us is not whether the marketplace matters — but how the church forms people for it.
This gathering centers around a shared question:
How does the local church faithfully form and send people into the marketplace as an expression of discipleship and worship?
Forming people for the marketplace is not about creating more programs. It is about recovering the church’s formative role — shaping imagination, character, courage, and conviction for everyday work.
This evening is not a conference or keynote-driven event. It is a relational table designed to:
- Reflect together on a theology of work and vocation
- Develop shared language around discipleship beyond church walls
- Encourage pastoral imagination for city engagement
- Strengthen trust and collaboration among church leaders
You will leave with:
- Greater clarity on how Sunday formation connects to Monday vocation
- Encouragement for shepherding those called to business and public life
- Meaningful relationships with fellow pastors in Dubai
- A renewed vision for the church’s role in the flourishing of the city
This forum explores how pastors can move beyond occasional commissioning prayers toward intentional formation — equipping believers to live integrated lives where faith and work are not separate spheres, but a unified calling.
The Conversation
Forming People for the Marketplace
Most of our people spend the majority of their lives beyond the walls of the church. Their offices, studios, clinics, classrooms, and companies are places of daily witness and influence.
To form people for the marketplace means:
- Teaching a robust theology of work as worship
- Cultivating prayerful listening and spiritual discernment
- Shepherding leaders who carry significant responsibility
- Releasing men and women with clarity, resilience, and love for the city
